ELSA Westminster x Westminster Travel Society Games Night

A joint social games night run by the Westminster Travel Society together with ELSA Westminster. The aim is to get members of both societies actually mixing rather than just sharing a room, and to give people an easy, low pressure first event to come along to. For our side it also acts as the warm up to our Bath day trip the following weekend.

Format

An indoor evening games night in a university room. Attendees are split into mixed teams at the door so members of the two societies end up working together rather than sitting separately. Committee members from both societies run the rounds and keep score through the night.

Games

Five rounds, all indoor and low movement, with no equipment beyond plastic cups, a soft ball, paper, pens and a laptop and screen for the quiz:

1. Find Your Animal Partner, each person is quietly given an animal and has to find the other people with the same one by making that animal's sound. Used at the start to mix the two societies and form teams.

2. Human Bingo, players work through a card of prompts by finding someone in the room who matches each one.

3. Passing the Ball with Cups, teams stand in a line each holding a plastic cup and pass a soft ball from cup to cup down the line without using hands. Fastest team wins. Standing in place, no running.

4. Save the Wig, a seated circle game played with a wig passed between players, with players dropping out as rounds go on.

5. Travel and Law Trivia, the closing quiz round, split between travel questions on flags, capitals and landmarks, and general law questions set by ELSA
